The stock Lightning cable is pretty long and not very stylish. We shorten a genuine Apple Lightning cable to your specifications (please email us how long the final cable should be, from stock length on down to the minimum of about 3 inches) and sleeve the cable with our sexy and tough silver fiber sleeve as seen on the DHC Spore and Complement headphone cables - or try our new black "silent" sleeve for a stealth look. We also dampen the cable inside with cotton for added protection and a luxurious texture. A special heating process permanently straightens the cable so it is not covered in kinks like the Apple Lightning cable is when it comes out of the box. We re-terminate the cable with our DHC custom gold USB plug - besides looking nice and performing reliably, it won't get jammed in your USB port as the standard Apple USB plugs have been... We then reinforce the ends of the cable and finish them with DHC logo heatshrink and then clear PVC shrink to preserve the appearance of the logo. The result is a much-tougher Lightning cable with a custom length, attractive and durable sleeving, and a top-quality USB connector. Please note that this cable is modded by hand, by me personally, to your specifications - and the price is based on cost of materials as well as the usual labor costs.
For an additional cost, we can offer our full array of DHC "Ultra" signature styles. Made by layering several types of exotic sleeving upon one another, this makes for a one of a kind cable. These styles are our own creation and a specialty of ours since 2009. The most popular style is "Defcon," made by layering clear braided Teflon sleeve over real black carbon fiber. We recommend that styles with "Reflex" sleeving on the outside be handled with care, while styles with the Teflon outer sleeve are extra-tough.
