Please excuse the warning "one time charges may apply".  This is my webstore software referring to the little bottles of soldering flux we sell with this wire  - they are processed as a "one time charge" meaning that if you tick the box at the bottom for one or two vials of the flux to be included with your order, when adding 50 feet of my wire to the cart, it will add the flux only once (not fifty times!).

DHC's Nucleotide Cryo OCC Copper

Now available in black!

20-foot minimum on all orders

A stranded 24awg cryo-treated OCC copper hookup wire for all occasions

Ultra-pure Ohno continuous cast process copper - the highest purity copper stock drawn into single crystals for unimpeded signal transfer. The most accurate tests can only show up to four nines, the purity could be up to 7N.  The starting stock is 5N purity, and our tests can determine the purity to 99.99%, but the wire could potentially be more pure - the test does not suggest otherwise.

DHC "Nucleotide" wire is produced at one of the world's three original patent-authorized OCC facilities - watch out for cheap imitations.  The OCC process was invented in the late 1980s and licensed to three large specialty-metals processing corporations.  One of these three corporations produces our wire.  There are firms cropping up around mainland China that claim to produce OCC but lack the 25+ years of experience of our manufacturer, who has been authorized since day one to produce metal with the Ohno continuous cast process.

NEW - now cryo-treated by the manufacturer.  Cryogenic treatment is a process that is well-documented in increasing the strength of metals and is popular for its beneficial effects on the sound.

42 strands x 40awg stranded wire performs on the level of solid-core wire with no durability issues. The strands are just the right size to not break easily while maintaining extreme flexibility.  This is one of the most finely stranded hookup wires out there.

Dead soft annealed for maximum durability, compliance, & conductivity

24 gauge - the ideal size for interconnects and headphone cables - mitigates the skin effect and time smearing issues of thicker wire

1.5mm overall diameter - no bulk

Silky-soft polyethylene insulation - a superior material to PVC or Teflon with none of their hardness or resonance

Fits Sennheiser plugs, Neutrik 3.5mm plugs, and HD800 plugs with no modding

Works well for speaker, IEM, headphone, interconnects, and recables

For best results, when stripping and tinning this wire use DHC's own liquid flux, available for a low cost in small glass vials.  We have it set up as a one time charge, so when adding 20 feet of my wire to cart, if you check the box at the bottom for 1 vial, you will be charged $4, or $8 if you select 2 vials.

Sold as single wires by the foot, so for a 4' headphone cable you would need 4 feet x 4 conductors = 16 feet."

Need more proof that DHC's "Nucleotide" UP-OCC copper wire is the real deal? This paper and others show that the OCC continuous casting process, by reducing the number of boundaries between the crystals in the copper wire's structure, reduces resistivity and increases conductivity.

The paper, regarding OCC and crystal boundaries:

"It is evident that grain boundaries, which are perpendicular to the direction of signal transmission, have an evident effect on the signal distortion and attenuation.  Since there is no grain boundary in single crystal copper wire, the quality of signal transmission is excellent."

"The resistivity of the copper wires increases with increasing the the number of grain boundaries."

"Impurity can not only result in an increase of the wire's resistivity, but also influences the signal transmission."
